1940s Hand-Dyed Satin Nightgown – Vintage Summer Dream
This incredible 1940s satin nightgown has been brought back to life with a custom hand-dyed finish, highlighting its stunning square lace-embellished chest design and playful ruffled sleeves. The flowy silhouette makes it the perfect unique summer dress, blending vintage charm with a modern edge.
The original belt may be long gone, but I’m including a neon satin ribbon that adds a fun pop of color—I love how it contrasts with the gown’s soft, vintage vibes. To preserve this beauty, I covered three small pinholes and light stains on the front with delicate vintage lace appliqués (all pictured), blending seamlessly into the gown’s design.
Hand-dyeing gives the satin a rich, multidimensional tone with natural variations, making this piece truly one of a kind.

• Antique fabrics (pre-1930s): Delicate materials such as 1920s silk or Edwardian muslin require extra care. These fabrics can be fragile and should be worn loosely to prevent stress or tearing.
Things to Consider for Edwardian & Victorian Clothing:
• A marked XS piece may have medium-sized shoulders and hips but a tiny waist (corset-era sizing).
• Sleeves are often ¾ length, not full-length.
• Buttons may be mismatched due to age and previous repairs.
