An absolutely stunning Victorian pendant and chain offered in it's original fitted box. The pendant, modelled as a heart is set with vibrant blue enamel, featuring Amethyst, Diamond, Opal, Ruby and Emerald gemstone set forget-me-not flower motif. A popular motif during the Victorian period, and the he stones spell out the popular romantic sentiment "ADORE" - taking the first letter of each stone to make up the secret message. Amethyst, Diamond, Opal, Ruby and Emerald. The back features a glass locket compartment with a lucky four leaf clover inside, and the 18k gold snake chain features an original diamond and enamel set clasp. It has a wearable length of 17 inches and remains in fantastic condition.
Antique jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers". It had a major impact upon Victorian society and many flowers represented a romantic or emotional sentiment, and in this case forget-me-not for true love. A lovely link to the acrostic sentiment and heart shaped pendant.
