Victorian jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers", whereby each flower or plant represented some romantic or emotional sentiment... In this case, forget-me-not flowers. According to Kate Greenaway's Language of Flowers book, this means "True love, forget me not". This piece, a lovely 18k gold charm of openwork design, with forget-me-not flowers in two-tone gold and the words "ne m'oublie pas". This translated to "don't forget me". A lovely sentiment, and it dates from the Victorian period, circa 1880.
